Gas Piping
Copper pipes have
been used for various piping applications for decades now across the
world, their proven performance and longetivity has gained immense
confidence of the industry and its users. Copper pipes proven
performance can be witnessed in plumbing (Hot and cold water), space
heating, sewage and critical applications such as medical gas piping
across the world. This confidence on copper pipes performance can be
witnessed off late in Indian Piped Gas Industry by using copper pipes
in their internal piping for their reticulated gas installations.
Copper pipes have replaced Galvanised Iron in internal piping with M/s Mahanagar Gas Ltd piped gas utility in Mumbai since 2000, utility in Delhi M/s Indraprastha Gas Ltd has also recently decided to use copper pipes instead of Galvanised Iron in their internal piping for domestic and commercial applications. Utilities across other states are also expected to convert to copper piping for their internal piping applications soon.

Copper has many significant advantages over its competitors, which has made it the material for various critical applications. The very magnitude of usage of copper pipes is an example for the immense confidence.- Corrosion Resistance
- Leak Proof Jointing
- Easy & Efficient Installation Technique
- Long Life
- Aesthetic Appearance
- Enhanced safety
Codes
In Indian Piped gas industry, mostly European and American codes are followed for copper pipes and fittings. The European standard for Pipes EN 1057 and for fittings EN 1254 is followed American standard for pipes ASTM B88 and for fittings ASME B 16.22 is widely followed.Links
